If you prefer a close contact with nature, you can visit parks of Peña Cabarga, Saja-Besaya and Oyambre or admire the picturesque landscape in Picos de Europa.
The most important attractions in Santander are Casa Pardo, Casa Pombo, Edificio del Banco de España, Correos (the post office building), the Ayuntamiento (city hall), the Cathedral, the Royal Palace of La Magdalena and Church of the Annunciation. There are also two zoos, a casino, a planetarium, several interesting museums and a large art centre which hosts festivals and cultural events throughout the year.
