One of the most remarkable and scenic destinations of the city of Salamanca is the Casa de las Muertes. Its main feature is an ancient same name palace which was erected in the 15th century. The palace is executed in keeping with the best traditions of the Plateresque style. Opposite to the palace tourists will discover a statue of a famous writer and philosopher Miguel de Unamuno.
A scenic street named after the famous writer starts right from the square. It also hosts several remarkable ancient buildings. Among religious landmarks of prime significance the Catedral Vieja is well worth visiting. The Old Cathedral forms an integral complex with the New Cathedral of Salamanca. The Old Cathedral of Salamanca was established at the turn of the 12th century. Its construction lasted for more than one hundred years.
