Agadir is a famous beach resort located on the shore of the Atlantic Ocean. Its name can be translated as “The city of white color”. This name was given to the city because of numerous huge beaches with white sand. Agadir is a perfect place for tourists who seek active rest. Here you will find golf fields, tennis courts, and the beaches have wonderful conditions for surfing.
Most probably, this is the most “European” of all Moroccan cities. Here women don’t wear hijab and many local people prefer European style in clothes. The city will amaze you by its beautiful and clean streets, spacious walleyes and accurate parks. The city has much space for walking and you will see cozy cafes and restaurants, and numerous shops simply everywhere. Among most popular entertainments for tourists are yacht cruises, fishing, and horse or camel rides. Absolutely each hotel has special offices, where you can rent sports inventory for underwater hunting, diving or fishing.
In spite of the fact Agadir is mostly known as a leisure tourism destination, several historic buildings here are really worth seeing. One of the oldest buildings is Essaouira fortress located on the shore. This region of the city is always windy, and waves are high, so the beach near the fortress is a traditionally popular spot for surfers. Guests, who enjoy being close to nature, should visit Immuzer region, where they can see a fantastic waterfall and walk through a local nature reserve. Tassila region is famous for its dancing festivals and spectacular carnivals, which take place here almost every month. If you want to visit more historic places and see old buildings, then you should consider visiting Tiznit and Tafraoute.
