This wonderful city was founded in 1639. This is a major political and cultural center of Mongolia. The number of attractions in this city is so big that even enumerating them all is very difficult. Such a wide choice of iconic places, beautiful old buildings, theaters and museums has always attracted travelers from all over the world to Ulan Bator.
Several attractions are located near the central square of the city. Here you will see the most famous monument of the city, which is called the Bell of Peace. Sükhbaatar's Mausoleum is located just and opposite to this monument. These historical sites remind of the national hero who has taken part in the struggling for independence. Winter Palace is one of the most beautiful buildings. It was built in the beginning of the 20th century by the order of the last emperor of the country.
There are numerous religious monuments in the city. The most famous of them are Gandan Monastery, Choijin Lama Temple Monastery, and many others. Each of them is of a great value; many shrines were built of wood, making them even more attractive and valuable.
