It’s better to start an acquaintance with attractions of the city with walk through the Old Town. This area is characterized by an abundance of beautiful old streets. You can see the age-old buildings and tiny squares, surrounded by flower beds and trees, everywhere. Typical buildings of the old town are small tiled houses, their facades are entwined with vines. At the heart of the historic district is located Theater Square, around which there are several interesting historical and architectural sites.
Here you can see the sculpture of Anika (the national folklore character) and the famous fountain, Simon Dach; both remain the most vivid symbols of the city for many years. In Klaipeda a huge number of galleries and museums are working; their collections are unique and very interesting. Be sure to include the visit to the Clock and Watch museum in the excursion. Among the exhibits there are chronometers relating to the prehistoric era; a separate room is dedicated to watches created in the 16th century.
