The grand fountain is the main decoration of the central square of the city. Its opening was held in 1278. The opening of the fountain is associated to a significant event in the history of the city being the completion of building of a new water system. The fountain is decorated with a unique statuary group and by the side of the majestic landmark tourists will find pools of weird shape. As a result of numerous reconstructions and renovations a part of the statuary group was dismounted. However this fact does not harm the majesty of the landmark. The fountain is still looking rather impressive and glorious.
Among architectural landmarks of the destination the Palace of the Priors (Palazzo dei Priori) is of great tourist attraction. The palace presents a single complex with the Cathedral of Saint Lorenzo. The buildings of the landmark are executed in keeping to the best traditions of Gothic style. After the completion of the construction in the 14th century the palace served to public usage. At present this majestic historical building hosts the town council which proceedings are taking place in its halls.
