The most popular beach of the resort is called Pane e Pomodoro. If you take a walk along it, you can reach the city’s center – the place where are gathered the most popular architectural and historical sights of Bari. Castello Normanno Svevo, which was built in 1132, is one of the most notable sights of the city. The castle was built by order of the king Ruggero II and for a long time it was used as the main control point of the city. During its long history the city has changed its status many times. It was used as a military base, a fortress and even as a prison. Today the castle is a home for the most famous museum of the city that exhibits large collections of natural, historical, architectural and art artifacts. The Museum of Archeology is another place of interest in Bari as excavations in the old part of the city don’t stop even now, so the museum constantly gets new exhibits.
The most famous architectural buildings referred to the Baroque period are the Cathedral and St. Nicolas Basilica built a thousand years ago.
If daytime is traditionally used for visiting excursions and unhurried walks on shady valleys, night turns Bari into one noisy discotheque. Tenths of bars, pubs, and night restaurants are ready to entertain their visitors till dawn.
