This picturesque island attracts tourists with its pristine beauty. Just like the majority of old cities, Skiathos is rich in historical attractions. This is a huge defensive complex built in the 14th century. Behind the walls were located a few hundred houses; here had been built more than 20 churches, but only three of them survived till our days. Among the monasteries of the city we can recommend visiting Kounistra and Evangelistra, the construction of which took place in the 17th century. Monks, who live in these monasteries, will tell you numerous fascinating stories and legends that tell of the incredible historical facts.
