The historical center of the island is the town named Parikia, in which you will find many old buildings. In the Castro quarter you can see the protected castle that was built in the 13th century. Not far away from it you will find the temples of Demeter and Apollo. The oldest religious building of the island is Panagia-Ekatontapiliani Church, which was built in the 6th century.
