No less interesting exhibition is organized in the Ethnographic Museum. Art lovers would be interested in visiting the art gallery, which hosts a collection of paintings of Byzantine and later periods. Lots of interesting tourist attractions are concentrated near Kalligoni town. Here is also an old amphitheater and ruins of powerful defensive walls, as well as several religious monuments. Apart from ruins of ancient temples, more than a dozen of old churches and cathedrals have survived on the island. Among them, Agios Minas, St. Spiridon, St. Demetrius, St. John of Anjou, and the Church of the Pantocrator point out.
Latter is next to an old cemetery where prominent artists and noble people were buried. Among other notable places, Phaneromeni monastery located on top of the mountain is worth to mention. Near the ancient monastery there are several observation decks, so tourists would have an opportunity to admire the panoramic bird's eye view of the island. Despite the fact that many travelers associate Lefkada exclusively with a beach vacation, the island offers a varied and rich program of excursions.
