Liverpool is situated in the south-west of England along the Mersey River. It's second largest port of export in Great Britain. The citizens of Liverpool are officially called 'liverpudlians', but more spread is their other nickname - 'scousers'. They got it because of their love for lobscouse, the soup that was invented by the Norwegians and then became the favorite meal of the poor. In this city people speak special dialect – scouse. Liverpool is known in every corner of the world not only for its legendary river port and 'The Beetles', but also for Grand National Steeplechase. But this city is worth visiting not only because of numerous sights, but also because good shopping, great number of sport competitions and interesting nightlife.
