The first cruiser in the world “Warrior” is moored in docks too, it was built in 1860. District of docks is one of the favorite walking places for tourists, it is possible to look at the moored ships for a whole day. Not far away from harbor there is historical district, where a lot of interesting architectural monuments are kept.
The great building is Moffat-Ladd house. It was built in 1763 and has been kept until the present days in its primeval appearance, this beautiful building is excellent example of so-called federal style, which was prevalent in Portsmouth on the boundary of 18-19 centuries. In several steps from the house there is Wentworth-Gardner-house, which is interesting to in architectural point of view.
It is important to note that both these houses are opened for visiting. Their internal space is designed in full compliance with style of last centuries, spacious rooms are decorated with antiquary furniture and items of art. In Portsmouth there is big number of acting museums and galleries, visiting of these places must be included in every trip program. Royal Naval Museum is one of the most attended establishments in the city.
