If you happen to get to the north-east of Germany, keep in mind that you can drop at a very beautiful and interesting city – Rostock. It's considered to be the largest in its area - Mecklenburg-West Pomerania. Rostock has the population of more than 200 000 people, so it's not surprising that it became the political and business center. More than that, the city has the reputation of one of the most popular touristic places. Lots of tourists and simply German people come there to have some rest at the Baltic Sea. The town center can offer you a great number of fabulous towers and houses of past times. There you can have a look at old houses and attractive cathedrals. The architecture of the city mostly has gothic style. The Rostock University is more than 800 years old, but it doesn't prevent the building from looking very up-to-date. Rostock can also offer you to spend some relaxing time on the beach of Warnemunde. There you can laze in the sun all day long and have rest from the hustle and bustle of a big city.
In the city you there a lot of sights that are worth watching at. Take for example, the Church of St Marien. Its gothic style corresponds to the average look of the in the best way possible. Or have a look at the magnificent Holy Cross Abbey, where nowadays takes place the Cultural History Museum. Another interesting place is The St Petri Church, which is also gothic. It was built in the 13th century and has the spire that is 117 m tall. The City Hall and its nine fabulous towers also deserve your attention.
