Another interesting architectural object is the historic trading house built in the second half of the 14th century. The beautiful building with a bright red facade served as the venue for a variety of customs operations. During its long history, the building's appearance has changed significantly. In 1988 the large-scale reconstruction of the building was held; then the ancient coat of arms was engraved on the facade.
The Museum of the City of Freiburg situated in the spectacular Baroque building invites tourists in a fascinating tour. The museum tells the history of the development of industry and commerce in the city; some of its priceless exhibits date back to the early 12th century. An interesting collection of exhibits is devoted to the history of the cathedral. The museum is visited by about 20,000 visitors annually.
