After touring historic sites visitors can stroll through the beautiful ancient garden; there is the famous Liban cedar on its territory. The height of this mighty tree is 33 meters and age is about two hundred years. One of the most visited cultural venues of the city - the Museum of Fine Arts – is in the garden too. Its collection is very diverse and will impress even those who haven’t shown much interest in the culture before.
Another important attraction of Tours is located on the Place Plumereau; we are talking about the old Basilica of Sant-Martn. Named after the patron saint the basilica attracts pilgrims and curious tourists from all over the world. The undisputed symbol of the city is the beautiful Plessy-les-Tours Castle housing the Museum of Wax. For 20 years it was the principal residence of Louis X. Many interesting legends and stories are associated with castle. There is also the tropical aquarium, which introduces the diversity of inhabitants of the underwater world.
In the vicinity of Tours there is a number of interesting historical sites, including ruins of the ancient amphitheater and fortifications, ruins of buildings dating back to the Roman Empire and many interesting natural attractions.
