Not far from the historical center of the city one will find the Chateau de Bionne. Its construction took place at the edge of the 17th – 18th centuries. For a long period of time the castle stood desolated and today it houses an upscale hotel. The Chateau de Flaugergeus. The palace features vast parkland. The first park was established there by the palace owners as far back as at the beginning of the 18th century. At present the scale and well equipped and managed garden is among the most significant city landmarks.
A remarkable landmark of Montpellier is the Tour de la Babote being a survived part of the wall which is during the early Middle Ages surrounded the city. In the course of long history the tower has changed its look and appearance for several times and has been added with new levels meanwhile previous ones have been reconstructed. The Tour de la Babote is the only one from 25 towers which has survived till present days. The height of the construction is 53m. Among the most significant cultural landmarks and spots the Fabre Museum (Le musee Fabre) is most worth noticing. It was established in 1828. The museum got the name of its founder, renowned painter Francois Xavier Pascal Fabre. The museum presents a collection of his artworks as well as paintings and creations of other artists of France.
