Prosper Merimee Park is a popular attraction of the city. The family house of the famous writer is located in this park. The mansion had been in ruins since 1870; after the death of the owner it was decided to convert the house into a museum. Suquet district is also very interesting from historical point of view. The territory of the district is home to buildings of different ages. Here tourists will find famous Church of Our Lady, which connoisseurs of architecture often call a true example of Gothic style.
During their walk tourists can climb to the top of the hill. Several centuries ago the hill was the location of a powerful fortress. Unfortunately, the historical building didn’t survive to modern times, but this place still attracts curious travellers who come there to enjoy beautiful panoramic views of Cannes from above. We simply cannot fail to mention numerous museums – almost every district of Cannes has a popular museum. Maritime Museum (Le Musee de la Marine) is located in a beautiful building of the 18th century. The exhibition of the museum includes personal belongings of Admiral Frank Joseph Paul, a world-renowned researcher. A collection of models of ships is real pride of the museum.
