Large restaurants, shopping centers and supermarkets accept payments by credit cards. Cash will be definitely needed only for the travellers who want to make purchases in street markets or plan to attend suburban stores. You should not forget to take more paper money in small denominations as it will greatly simplify the process of paying to street vendors.
In many restaurants and hotels staff can speak fluent English, but travellers are still recommended to take a French phrase book to the trip. By using the book it will be much easier to find common ground with passers-by and sellers in the city’s markets.
Tips are already included in the bill in some restaurants and cafes. As a rule, the amount of tips charged is 10 - 12% of the total order. If tips are not included in the bill, you should leave an extra of the abovementioned amount.
Power supply voltage is 220 V; all hotels are equipped with standard European wall outlets. All visitors are advised to check all their appliances for compatibility before the trip and purchase adapters if necessary. Many hotels already have adapters that are available on request.
