Abu Dhabi has been around since the third century BC, but it was not until 50 years ago that tremendous oil and gas reserves were discovered there and the city made its miraculously short way from a camel-herding village to a modern hustling and bustling metropolis. It didn't take long for Abu Dhabi to gain the status of one of the world's most affluent city, offering infinite business prospects.
Today, Abu Dhabi is the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the capital of the eponymous emirate.
This is an advanced and future-oriented city with a highly urban skyscraper cityscape, broad and congested streets and avenues, boulevards, parks and enterprises. Abu Dhabi has a broad network of posh hotels. However, many of its vestiges of the old day are well intact. In the shade of massive high-rise blocks of apartment you can find Middle East style souks and craft centers.
