One of the most popular excursions is an evening boat trip on the lake. It’s worth to tell a little bit more about Carinthian lakes; there are more than a thousand of freshwaters in the region. The largest are Worthersee, Ossiacher See, See, Weissensee and Milshtater See; the smallest are Afrittser See, Feldsee, Faakersee, Lengsee and Pressegger See. All large lakes have beaches and cozy family-run hotels. It should be noted that water from local lakes is repeatedly investigated for contamination; each time the results of environmental impact assessments are more than impressive. The water here is literally pure as crystal.
In addition to unique lakes, there are several hot springs in the region; modern spas were opened next to those springs. Families with children would also find many interesting excursions in Carinthia. It’s advisable to book an excursion to stalactite caves and Eisenkappel Grifften areas. Hyuttenberg area is famous due to its mine that has been turned into a museum. The colorful park of gnomes is open in Gurk; even the youngest travelers would enjoy it. Klagenfurt has a large park, a planetarium and a terrarium showing rare species of reptiles. Carinthia, unlike other regions of the country, has a plenty of tourist routes.
